Day 72: Favorite Crime Drama Movie

HEAT (1995)

Widely considered the apex of Michael Mann's filmmaking résumé, Heat is a slow-burning crime drama, peppered with fantastic action sequences, including one of the best bank heist scenes ever put on film. It also successfully combined the enormous talents of Pacino and De Niro without letting one performance overshadow the other. Lastly, it had a dynamic and well-rounded supporting cast of characters who, after almost twenty years -- if they didn't already have a fledgling film career -- have all made a serious name for themselves. If I hadn't already placed Heat here, it would have almost been a given for Day 81: Best Ensemble Cast.
