Day 65: Favorite Holiday-Themed Movie


This entry was much more difficult that I had first imagined when I was putting this list together a couple of weeks ago. I figured that it'd be a lot easier to choose a favorite holiday-themed movie that wasn't Christmas, but in the end, I was wrong. Rather than selecting A Christmas Story for more than the obvious reasons of nostalgia and humor alone, I chose Love Actually for it's large array of brilliant cast of characters who are all believable in their own right. While the only really absurd story-line in this film is Colin and his "escapades" in America (who runs into women that conveniently look like January Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, and Shannon Elizabeth), this film is endearing all while being brutally honest. It's quickly becoming a Christmas favorite.

NYC in Films - My Personal Favorites

New York City. The most famous metropolitan city in the United States, quite possibly the world. No, I did not take this picture, but honestly wished I had. My wife and I just recently visited the Empire State, along with taking the train into the city for the day. We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge , ate at Carnegie Deli , searched for spooks at the New York City Public Library (as well as a clean restroom and free water), watched children dance with joy on the "Big Piano" inside  FAO Schwarz , walked around Rockefeller Center (which was surprisingly smaller in person compared to how it looks on TV), visited the 9/11 Memorial , and charged my dying iPhone at the Apple Store inside Grand Central among many others. Reevaluating the Sean Connery Era (1962 - 1971, 1983) GOLDFINGER (1964) Directed by Guy Hamilton Written by Richard Maibaum, Paul Dehn Ian Fleming (novel) Running Time: 110 minutes Original Verdict: By far my favorite Bond film and usually hailed by most fans and critics alike as the quintessential James Bond movie. Talk about gadgets: the Aston Martin DB5 makes it debut with rotating license plates, water jets, smoke screen, radar and ejector seat. Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe) set the standard as the perfect Bond villain, while Oddjob became one of the best henchmen of the Bond Franchise.
