Movie Advice Monday: Gladiator

"What we do in life echoes in eternity."

General Maximus Decimus Meridius, Gladiator (2000)

Everyone should be aware of our actions and the impact they make on others. No one knew this more than Maximus. While he may have been referring to the upcoming events that would take place on the battlefield (and how its events would be written down in history books), it rang true throughout the rest of his life. Even after he was betrayed by the Emperor's son, the reputation he had established before and even after being sold into slavery, echoed throughout the Gladiator circuit and eventually, Rome.

In a more practical way, just like it takes "five positive words to erase one negative word", the same can be said in regards to our actions. Imagine if we spent less time beating people down and instead building them up. Imagine, if you will, that we loved our neighbor as ourselves. Just a thought.
